Outdoor Outreach in the Press

On October 4th, Outdoor Outreach was featured on KPBS. The story featured Leadership Program participant Juan Herrera and our work with the Monarch School. The piece turned out great. If you didn't get a chance to watch it, click here to view.

Outdoor Outreach was also featured in the October/November issue of Urban Climber. To take a look at the article, please click here.

New Office

Our new headquarters

We've Moved

Outdoor Outreach has moved its corporate headquarters. Our new address is 5275 Market Street, Suite A, San Diego, CA 92114. Please make a note of it for all future correspondence. Two local foundations, The Legler Benbough Foundation and the Jacobs Foundation, have sponsored the move for us as part of their larger plan to re-develop the Diamond neighborhood of San Diego. Local architect and Outdoor Outreach volunteer Miki Iwasaki designed and managed the building of the space for us. The office has turned out great and will allow us to further expand our programming. We'll be having an open house and holiday party on December 10th from 4pm-8pm. Mark your calendars, the invites will go out soon.

Recent Contributor:  CW Cares for Kids Fund

Thank You

Here at Outdoor Outreach, we are 100% committed to working with at-risk and underprivileged youth.  Youth who, otherwise, would never have the opportunity to experience the outdoors. We are very proud of the fact that no youth has ever paid for any of our programming. This is made possible only through the support of our many generous donors. We'd like to acknowledge recent grants made by the following contributors: The CW Cares for Kids Fund, QUALCOMM Incorporated, REI, The Stephenson Pope Babcock Foundation and The William and Jane Schloss Family Foundation.

Our programming is dependent upon the support of individuals, foundations and corporations. Now is the perfect time to make that year end tax deductible donation. You can easily donate online by clicking here. Thank you so much for your support.

Jesse hiking for his first turns in the Utah Powder on Wednesday

Opportunity Knocks

Leadership Program Participant Jesse Delgado was just hired by the The Rustler Lodge in Alta, Utah. Jesse will have the opportunity to ride in the best snow in the world at Snowbird every single day this winter and work towards his goal of becoming a professional snowboarder. Jesse first came to Outdoor Outreach two years ago on a snowboarding trip with one of our partners serving youth on probation. Jesse was an immediate natural, and we brought him into our leadership program. For the last year and a half Jesse has been working for us as a surf, snowboard, and rock climbing instructor. While Jesse has excelled in all of our activities, it's on the snow where he really shines. He especially loves riding in the terrain park hitting airs, rails and the halfpipe.

It's been inspiring to see Jesse's new found passion positively impact different areas of his life. After dropping out of High School, Jesse has now completed his GED (thank you to all of the volunteers who helped tutor Jesse), and plans to enroll in community college this summer while coming back to San Diego to work for Outdoor Outreach. Congratulations Jesse!
