Outdoor Outreach Volunteer of the Quarter

Tracey Dalton - Spring, 2011

Outdoor Outreach is pleased to announce our Spring Volunteer of the Quarter, Tracey Dalton. Tracey has become a prominent person in the Outdoor Outreach community since her involvement in 2009; she not only lends us her knowledgable yoga expertice, she also brings a great energy to our community with her vibrant, passionate and always positive personality. As well as an active community member, Tracey has volunteered her yoga service with both the 2009 and 2010 Joshua Tree Experiences, and with our OO youth and staff over the past year. She also gives her time every week to teach a donation only yoga class in Balboa Park benefitting the organization. And even more recently, she has set up a discounted rate for the friends of Outdoor Outreach at Yoga Oasis (the studio she teaches at). Outdoor Outreach would like to thank Tracey for her unparalled support and gracious dedication to OO! She has brought such high spirits to our community and her fun-loving energy is truly an attribute to the organization. – Katie Gangi, Volunteer Coordinator

I love teaching yoga! In the Ashtanga Yoga system there are eight limbs, the first two Yamas and the Niyamas deal with ethics and morals – ‘right living’.  Outdoor Outreach teaches the at-risk youth of San Diego how they can make good decisions in their lives by providing them with experiences in nature and mentorship programs. I am so grateful to be a small part of this great organization by offering community yoga and using this as a platform to inform people of the Outdoor Outreach Mission. The wholehearted dedication of the OO community made me feel connected to the divine light in all, at every moment and with every action. – Tracey

Darcy Fant - Winter, 2011

Outdoor Outreach is pleased to name Darcy Fant as our Volunteer of the Quarter for Fall 2010. For the past year Darcy has lent her time to training, implementing and creating systems around our CRM, Salesforce. Darcy’s Salesforce ability has proven to be a critical asset to the organization. While not the most exhilarating way to volunteer with OO, Darcy’s work on OO’s systems has been crucial to the organization’s growth and success.  Along with being a very bright young woman Darcy is also extremely committed to the work of Outdoor Outreach. Darcy is an exemplary  volunteer and we are pleased to honor her for her hard work. Congratulations Darcy! – Erin Miller, Development Coordinator

To me, working with Outdoor Outreach is a way to help pass on the opportunities that were provided to me growing up. My life has always been immersed in sports, and I truly believe that is the reason for where I am now. Active hobbies are emotional outlets and channels for positivity, but most of all, ways for youth to stay away from so many bad influences. These were the opportunities that kept me from falling on to the wrong path. Outdoor Outreach isn’t just a program for kids, it’s a lifestyle they depend on. – Darcy
